Talk Austin FC

Talk Austin FC is a fan-run website/blog that produces news and opinions on news in the soccer world. Talk Austin FC was originally created to talk about news for the new MLS soccer team that is coming to Austin in 2021 called “Austin FC” but now they had to put that on hold and talk about more pressing matters that have indirect effect on the new club. They are constantly posting about news and the way it will affect the MLS and how that would intern effect Austin FC. Both of the writers (there is two of them) that run their blog site are very experienced soccer players and understand the game well and they write about it well too. One thing that is hard to find in the realm of talking about soccer now a days is actually finding people that know what they are talking about but these guys are the complete opposite that and that is what I find unique about their writing. The one thing I like about their blog posts is the way they express their own personal opinions I find that their writing is tasteful and intelligent. I do try to strive for that in my own blog posts, I do like to try to have tasteful and intelligent commentary that gives proper expectations and clear pictures to my audience. They also run a podcast and are active on multi-media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. They do a phenomenal job on posting and promoting their posts on their website on those social media platforms. It is a great website and my audience should check it out for MLS and Austin FC news. I do strive to do a good of job as they do on their work and the promotion of their work.

COVID-19 and My Sorrows

Like me all soccer fans are in great sorrow due to the delay on the Premier League and all other European soccer competitions because of the COVID-19 virus. Manchester United was on a roll and doing well in all European competitions and the Premier League leading up to the COVID-19 outbreak. Its been nearly 3 weeks since the “delay” was put in place in Premier League stopping all play till April 4th (You can read about the delay on CNBC). When you look at that date you think oh that’s not that bad, but when you look at the course that the virus is taking and the rate it is spreading at I think that they will delay of the league will be even longer; and the cancellation of the league is even more likely than another delay. With that being said, it does brings one positive… if they are going to cancel the Premier league Liverpool will not win the league and failing to win their first league title, so that’s a plus. But in all seriousness I do see the reasoning behind delay and the possible cancellation of the league. It is crucial that we fight this virus and make sure to slow the spread of the virus, and the measures the Premier League and other European competitions put into place makes sense for the safety of the people and players.

But this is a soccer blog about Manchester United and we need to discuss the 2-0 win over Manchester United’s cross town rivals Manchester City on March 8th, 2020. My first thoughts are just wow; this win over our cross town rivals is a testament to Ole Gunner Solskjear’s brilliance. This win means that we have beaten Manchester City in all competitions this season, which in years past has been a difficult thing for any club to accomplish. The game was an exciting one from start to finish, Manchester United scored a wonder goal off a set piece involving Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial. Fernandes did a cheeky chip over the wall and Martial took it on the volley and put it pass the Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson. It was a wonderful set piece and should be put up for goal of the year. The game was a constant back and forth from then on till the second half. In the second half it seemed to be all Manchester City but Manchester United stood vigilant and thwarted Manchester Cities attacks. At the end of the game Ederson made a huge error and gave the ball away around half field to Scott McTominay and he put it in the back of the net ending any chances Manchester City had to coming back. The game was a phenomenal one and is proof and hope that Manchester United is on the way back to the top of the league where they belong.

FA Cup: The Return of a Club Legend

On Thursday, 3/5/2020, Manchester United played against Derby County in the FA cup. The match, in my opinion was bittersweet. On one hand, we saw the return of Wayne Rooney to the FA cup with Derby County and a small part of me as a United fan wants him to do well; on the other hand I also want Manchester United to win because I obviously want my team to win and move forward in the tournament.

The match itself was very exciting for the first 30 minutes of the first half. In the 33rd minute, Luke Shaw of Manchester United, scored a volley that bounced over the goalie and back into the back of the net. Up to this point the game was back and forth. As soon as Shaw scored, Derby County looked to fall apart. Soon after that goal, Odion Ighalo scored a scrappy goal that put Manchester United up 2-0. I was excited that my team was doing well, but a small part of me was sad; I grew up with Wayne Rooney as my idol and I looked up to him when he played at Manchester United so of course I did want him to do well and the smallest part of me hoped that he would lead Derby to beat Manchester, like what he did at Manchester when he used to play for them.

In the second half, Manchester started hard and fast, and Dominated possession right off of kick off. In the 77th minute Odion Ighalo scored a second off an amazing cut back pass from Juan Mata putting Manchester United up 3-0. For the rest of the game Manchester Dominated possession. At the end of the game I was happy but a little sad, because you can see the disappointment on Wayne Rooney’s face at the game, and that hurt a little; to see your childhood hero look disappointed and down just makes me sad a little. however regardless of that Manchester put on a performance that gave the impression that they were unbeatable and that gives me hope for the future of Manchester United. But at the end of the day Manchester United got the result and move on to play Norwich in the next round of the FA cup.

Transfer Talk and First games back

Hi and welcome to the first topic of my page, I want to talk about Manchester United first signings of the January transfer window, so we should get started by talking about Manchester United’s new signings. Manchester United during the January 2020 transfer window, signed Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo. At the time of this post, we have seen Bruno Fernandes in action against Wolves at home on Saturday (2/1/2020). Bruno Fernandes has, by all means, has already made a huge impact in the first team. Fernandes was constantly creating chances for our wingers and forwards to make plays, he has completely made Manchester United look like a completely different team. That was often the problem with Manchester United, we could maintain possession of the soccer ball but we could not create any chances with that possession. We can be expecting big things from Bruno Fernandes. The other signing of note is Odion Ighalo, he used to play for Watford F.C. and made a huge impact there. We were able to pick up Ighalo on loan from Shanghai Shenhua which is a club out of China. Ighalo, in my opinion, is kind of a wild card, from what I have seen (i.e Clips of his time at Shanghai Shenhua) he is a good player but he does seem to have an effort issue that I hope he will get over it for Manchester United.

Manchester United just recently played Chelsea FC and just wow, Manchester United had pulled this game out of their hat, the score ended 2-0 beating Chelsea FC on Monday February 17th, this game was a very exciting game because of the constant excitement. But in all honesty, Chelsea was not given a break by VAR (Video Assistant Referee). They made their chances but they were either off-sides or in one case had a poor call called on them that took away a goal. But Manchester and our new transfers played phenomenally that ultimately gave us the win and 3 Points.

Premier League Standings

Introduction

Welcome to the disappointing soccer fan blog. My name is Cade and I am a Manchester United fan, and have been since I was 7 years old. I can still remember watching Scholes score in 7 seconds against the MLS all-stars in Dallas Texas, I also have played soccer for over 17 years so I like to think I know what I am talking about. I decided to write on this subject because I am a passionate fan that is tired of people on social media falsely reporting and interpreting news. The reason I say disappointing is that this blog is going to be primarily a Manchester United fan blog (that was a joke). The reason I am calling it the disappointing soccer fan blog is because these past two seasons have just been negative and just not good soccer by Manchester United, because if you’re like me you can remember the Manchester United Golden day’s and now can only reminisce over the past as the future right now looks bleak. My goal for this blog is to give my opinions and maybe some suggestions to solve issues that the club is having. I want to talk about each game and break them down and give opinions from a fan’s perspective. Other resources I plan on using include Manchester United transfer Twitter Pages. I will also be monitoring the Manchester United Official social media pages for news from the club itself.
